One visa application form per applicant properly filled out (front and back – original) and duly signed. Application form may be obtained personally or by mail from the Embassy.
The passport must be valid for at least 6 months prior to the expected date of entry into Brazil and it will be retained by this Embassy during the processing period. It must have at least two blank pages available.

Photocopy of round trip ticket to Brazil or ticket transit, with flight numbers, dates and itinerary. Instead of a ticket, the Embassy will also accept a signed letter from the carrier or travel letter agent, on company letterhead, with the name of the vessel (in the case of ships), itinerary, dates of arrival in and departure from Brazil.
Invitation letter for participants in conferences, seminars, or other academic event, as non-speakers.
Airline employees or persons on standby with open tickets must present tickets with itinerary and an airline ID card (or a signed letter from the airline on company letterhead), with the name of the employee and his/her itinerary.
If you reside within the Embassy’s jurisdiction but you are not a citizen of that country, you must also submit:
Proof of permanent residence or valid-re-entry visa for return to the country in which you currently reside, or
A valid visa to a third country of final destination after visiting Brazil, or
Return ticket to your country of citizenship.
Both parents must sign application forms for minors.
Minors (under 18) not traveling with both parents and legal guardian(s): it must be provided a notarized letter of consent signed by the non-accompanying parent(s) or guardian(s). After being signed by a Notary Public the authorization should be submitted, for authentication by the Embassy, together with a declaration by the parent(s)/guardian(s) making the application, together with payment to enable the letter and, if applicable, guardianship document (proof of guardianship is required) to be authenticated by the Embassy. Fee for authentication: BD$50.00 or US$25.00.
All tourist visa applications will be accepted if presented personally by the applicant. If you cannot apply in person, your application may be delivered by someone else (including a visa service or travel agency) or by mail. An additional fee will be charged for visa applications made by third parties on your behalf (see below).

(Due to bilateral agreements signed by the Brazilian government with some countries, citizens of those countries are not required to apply for a visa if traveling to Brazil as tourist for a stay of up to 90 days. Please contact the Embassy to verify the existence of such agreement with your country of citizenship).
Handling fee - an additional US$12.50 or BD$25.00 per applicant will be charged for visa applications received by mail or presented by a third party.
Some nationalities may require consultation with Brazil. In this event, please allow a minimum of one month for the visa to be processed. At the request of the applicant, the Embassy will request such consultation by cable, and a additional fee of US$31.25 or BD$62.50 will be charged. Replies may take up to 30 days.
US passport holders are exempt from the visa fee, but must pay a processing fee of US$ 162.50 or BD$ 325.00 in reciprocity for a similar fee charged to Brazilian passport holders for processing entry visas to the USA.
Please note that checks are not accepted. The Embassy will accept cash or Money Order International (Banking), exact amount, in the name of Embassy of Brazil. Postal Money Orders will not be accepted.
Applications will only be accepted if all required documentation is presented and fees paid. It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to obtain all the documents required for issuance of the visa. The Embassy may request proof that the applicant has sufficient funds of self-maintenance for the duration of stay in Brazil (bank statement covering the last six months or other document).
A self-addressed and stamped/pre-paid envelope for the return of the passport(s) must accompany documents sent to the Embassy by courier/mail. Express mail service such as DHL, FEDEX, etc, are highly recommended.
The Embassy will not be held responsible for applications and passports sent by mail.

Business trips, except when the trip involves the provision of technical assistance services of any nature (in which case a VITEM-V is mandatory).
Travel for media coverage or filming.
(If the filming expedition is intended for reasons other than journalism or newsgathering, issuing the visa depends on prior authorization from the Ministry of Culture in Brazil. For such, the applicant must find a Brazilian co-producer who shall obtain that authorization).
Flight/ship crewmembers not holding an international crew card.

Letter from the employer or sponsoring company, on their letterhead stationery, signed by a senior manager, requesting the visa and stating the following information:
Specification of employment status/position held in the company by the applicant;
The precise nature of the business (or workshop) to be conducted by the applicant while in Brazil;
Name of the companies/institutions to be visited in Brazil (including their address and names of contact persons), arrival and departure dates to and from Brazil and that the employer/sponsoring company assumes full responsibility for applicant’s repatriation.

Business visa holders are not allowed to engage in any activity under employment contract with a Brazilian organization/corporation.
Visa holders must arrive in Brazil within 90 days from the date of issue of their visas.

Yellow Fever International Immunization Certificate
This certificate is mandatory if applicant traveled within the last 90 days to any of the following countries: Angola; Benin; Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso; Burundi; Cameroon; Chad, Colombia, Congo; Ivory Coast; Ecuador, Ethiopia; Gabon; Gambia; Ghana; French Guyana; Guyana; Guinea-Bissau; Guinea Equatorial, Guinea; Liberia; Mali; Mauritania; Niger; Nigeria; Panama, Peru, Kenya; Central African Republic; Democratic Republic the Congo; Tanzania; Rwanda; San Tome & Principe; St. Vicente and the Grenadines, Senegal; Sierra Leona; Somalia; Sudan; Suriname; Togo; Trinidad & Tobago; Uganda and Venezuela.
It is advisable if applicant’s destination in Brazil includes any of the following States: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Macapá, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Federal District, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantíns, Bahia, Maranhão, Piauí, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul.
The Embassy informs all persons traveling to Brazil, including Brazilian citizens, that the World Health Organization/WHO as a country endemic for yellow fever lists Brazil. As such Health Authorities may request an International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever from travelers from Brazil.
The vaccination must be taken 10 days before the trip and it is valid for 10 years.
A person under 18 years of age not traveling with both parents or legal guardian(s) must provide a notarized letter of consent signed by the non-accompanying parent or guardian, together with appropriate payment to facilitate formal authentication by the Consular Service of the notarized letter of consent and, as applicable, the guardianship document (proof of guardianship is required).

Authentication of Documents
In order to be legally recognized in Brazil, an official document issued abroad (i.e., document issued by a local authority) must have its authenticity validated by a Brazilian Consular Office. School transcripts/diplomas, powers-of-attorney, commercial papers/contracts, donation letters and any other document/paper also require the Consular stamp in order to have its authenticity legally endorsed for validity in Brazil.
Procedcures
Submit to the embassy the document(s) to be authenticated, together with the appropriate fee payment;
The embassy will certify the authenticity of original documents only; as for photocopies, the embassy will certify it as “a true copy of the original”;
Except for original official documents and diplomas/school papers, all other documents (i.e., powers-of-attorney, commercial papers/contracts and any other paper) must first be notarized, prior to their submission to the embassy. The Notary Public’s seal must be stamped directly on the document, which must be submitted to the Embassy in its entirety; the Notary’s signature must be handwritten - name and title stamped or clearly written.
If not an original document, the copy must first be authenticated by a Notary Public (whenever the original is not submitted to certify the photocopy authenticity); the Notary Public must certify the photocopy as a true copy of the original. The Notary Public’s seal must be stamped directly on the document, his/her signature must be handwritten; name and title stamped or clearly written.
Please make sure that the Authority or the Notary Public certifying your document(s) has his/her signature specimen registered at this embassy. Documents bearing signatures not registered with the Embassy can not be authenticated.
Documents submitted by mail without the proper fee payment will not be processed under any circumstances. Also, the documents must be accompanied with a self-addressed (and always bearing your name/the name of your company as sender) and stamped/pre-paid and signed envelope for its return. Envelopes, which do not meet the above requirements, can not be forwarded to their destination. Express mail services such as FedEx, UPS, DHL etc., are highly recommended. The Embassy will not be held responsible for documents sent by mail or courier.

Fees
Donation letters - No fee. Donation letters can only be authenticated if the goods are consigned to welfare, or to an educational or to a scientific registered institution in Brazil.
For purposes of collecting pension or salaries or retirement payments from a Brazilian Government agency - No fee
Diplomas or school certificate/transcripts for enrollments purposes - BD$ 12.50 or US$ 6.25 per document
For all other purposes - BD$ 50.00 or US$ 25.00 per signature (i.e. per seal and signature of Notary Public)
More than three (3) – minimum of four (4) – notarized and/or apostilled documents (in a set, joined together), from the same company, is BD$ 150.00 or US$75,00.

Legalização de Documentos
Para que um documento originário do exterior tenha efeito no Brasil é necessária a legalização do original pela Autoridade Consular brasileira, seja por reconhecimento de assinatura, seja por autenticação do próprio documento. Antes de ser apresentado à Embaixada, o documento deverá ser submetido a tabelião público ("notary public") para reconhecimento de assinatura. O tabelião público deverá estar registrado junto à Embaixada, ou sua assinatura deverá ser apostilhada pelo Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros (Antigua e Barbuda/Barbados/Ilhas Virgens Britânicas/São Vicente e Granadinas), pela Suprema Corte (Ilhas Virgens Britânicas) ou Gabinete do Vice-Governador (Ilhas Virgens Britânicas).
Certidões de nascimento, casamento, óbito, divórcio e documentos oficiais devidamente carimbados pelo governo federal não precisam ser assinados por tabelião local.
Fotocópia autenticada. O original deve ser apresentado juntamente com a cópia (BD$ 12.50/US$ 6.25, em dinheiro ou “money order”). Se o original não for apresentado, a fotocópia deve ser primeiramente autenticada por tabelião com cópia fiel do original (BD$ 50.00/US$ 25.00. Forma de pagamento: “money order”).
Juntada de documentos: mais de 3 (três) – mínimo de 4 (quatro) – documentos legalizados e/ou apostilhados em um só maço, como um só documento, sendo todos relativos à mesma companhia ou empresa: BD$ 150.00/US$ 75.00. Forma de pagamento: “money order”.
Legalização de documentos escolares. Para serem válidos no Brasil, diplomas e históricos escolares devem ser legalizados junto à Embaixada. O histórico escolar deve estar impresso em papel timbrado da instituição de ensino, assinado por seu diretor ("principal") ou secretário ("registrar"). Deve-se trazer à Embaixada o original do documento (BD$ 12.50/US$ 6.25. Forma de pagamento: “money order”).
Juntada de documentos escolares. Mais de 3 (três) – mínimo de 4 (quatro) – documentos em um só maço, como um só documento, sendo todos relativos à mesma pessoa: BD$ 37.50/US$ 18.75. Forma de pagamento: “money order”.
Legalização por correio. Os documentos devem ser acompanhados de envelope preenchido (com nome e endereço do destinátario) e selado/pré-pago para fins de retorno. A Embaixada aceita envelopes de FedEx e DHL, para tanto, a “airway bill” deve ser encaminhada já preenchida e com número de conta para faturação. Em caso de legalização por correio, a Embaixada somente aceita “money order” como forma de pagamento.
Reconhecimento de assinaturas de brasileiros. Os cidadãos brasileiros devem comparecer pessoalmente à Embaixada com o documento a ser reconhecido e, pelo menos, um documento de identidade brasileiro.
